Henoko diary -from the dugong sea-

Since February 5th, Yuka Ozaki has been in Henoko, Okinawa to support local activists. Today, she finishes her duty and change places with other GPJ stuff, Sakyo Noda. Before she leave, she visit “Dugong Home”, secondhand store, to say good-bye, it’s GPJ poster “I need your help to survive!!”. Thank you very much Yuka!

Here Comes!

In this morning, we got information which “fixed buoy scaffold” is headed to Henoko. Local activists immediately sort out! We should not accept the huge scaffold for our sea.

Again, the huge scaffold returns to the port. We blocked the construction successfully. But we cannot relax…we don’t know when they will back.

We got information which Defense Facilities Administration Bureau will do drilling survey next week! We won’t put any piles in our ocean! Please join us to protect the ocean and Dugong!

Urgent Announcement from Local News Paper.

Today’s newspaper wrote that the constructors would place anchors for barge on 14th and bring the barge ship on 21st according to Ryukyu Shimpo (local news paper).

Again, the day is start!

From 6pm, we had a mini concert at Nago-city. Dugong mom and kid were also participating the concert and parade to “NO BASE!” “SAVE THE DUGONG!”

People announced tomorrow’s 1-year sit-in protest festival at Henoko on the corner of Nago-city. Greenpeace Japan members also help them to give flysheet for people.

More than 450 people gather to Henoko beach to against air base construction. From local fishermen, they served delicious fish soup.

STOP AIR BASE CONSTRUCTION!

In this early morning, Defense Facilities Administration Bureau (DFAB) and construction companies are going ahead with drilling at Henoko.
According to Greenpeace Japan original questionnaire survey, 98.4% Diet members who give a reply strongly disagree to construction air base at Henoko.
Today, more than 80% Okinawa residents of a prefecture also disagree the air base construction and people shows a positive attitude toward reviewing the construction; however, Japanese government is still using our tax to build useless air base and destroy Japanese precious nature.

Budget...2.7 billion!?

I attend Environmental meeting at House of Representatives. First, Defense Facilities Administration Agency (DFAA) made an announcement about air base at Henoko. This fiscal year, their budget for the air base construction is more than 2.7 billion yen!!!
