Messages from the world:
No more Hiroshima Nagasaki
Stop the plutonium production plant at Rokkasho!

2005/6/2

Please stop this project and support plutonium free industry!(Slovak Republic)

Please help nuclear disarmament, to avoid another Hiroshima.(Azerbaijan)

I am horrified to learn Japan's plans to recommence production of these deadly weapons. The resources used for this project sould be better spent on creating positive products and/or projects that nurture a healthy happy future.
The public's awareness on these matters is growing and people will not stand and support a government making such unhealthy, deadly decisions that will affect the future generations.
The decisions will rest on your ancestors heads.(Australia)

Rather than use energy sources that are a)dangerous (i.e. Chernobyl), b)expensive (construction, operation, maintenance, and decommisionning costs drive the price of electricity up), as well as c)the problem of hazardous waste disposal (half-life of 50,000 thousand years makes any attempts to plan containment, etc. unfeasible and unreasonable), I would much rather see the amazing level of Japanese ingenuity and technology spent on alternative energy sources such as solar, eolien, hydrothermic, wave, etc.

By researching, improving, implenting, and introducing these environmentally sound technologies, Japan would earn both recognition as well as financial compensation from patenting, selling, distrubuting these to the rest of the world. Come on and show the world what we could have, rather than going with a source of energy that solves none of the more serious problems.
Best Regards,
(Japan)

Give not just Japan, but the whole world a better shot at a peaceful future.(Australia)

We should all look to the past and realise how we fail to learn from history.
Japan is among the many countries which in the past 100 years have made mistakes which have condemned many of their citizens to cruel and needless deaths.
Please do not go down the road of mistakes. This world can not afford any more mistakes.(Australia)

Japan is the only country that has experienced the horror which plutonium can bring. How can it contribute to the start of a new nuclear race.(United States)

life is more important than everything
please think about children, they need a safe world.
thank you(Italy)

I don't want people in next generation suffer from the nuclear radiation from the Rokkasho reprocessing plant...(Indonesia)

I don't ask you for more, it's all yours..(Indonesia)

The pictures I've seen of people whose lives have been so negatively impacted by radiation are hard to forget. I have yet to see a picture of someone who has been positively impacted. Does the world really need any more "weapons-usable plutonium"? I think not. Please take responsibility and speak up for the people whose lives may depend on your decision. (United States)

Dear Sir,

Please do what you can to ensure that the Rokkasho plutonium reprocessing factory is shut down completely, cleaned safely, and put to better use than for weapons.(United States)

If all people on earth are to live in peace they require safe environments, healthy environments and environments that they can aspire to when creating and sharing with others safely. Operating nuclear plants cannot provide healthy, safe or inspirational results for anyone. Please remember the past mistakes of mankind and re-consider the start up of the Rokkasho reprocessing plant in Rokkasho-mura, Aomori. (Australia)

please my dear sir
Stop Rokkasho to prevent nuclear proliferation!
we must live ion peace to have progress every day
thanks for your attention(Egypt)

As a father and grandfather, I implore you to prevent this horrible legacy to future generations. Please let your legacy for my future generations and yours be one of contributing to a more peaceful and secure world. Nuclear proliferation does just the opposite. As people who have suffered the horrors of nuclear destruction, you, even more than any of us, should work against it's future devastation.(United States)

I spent some of my childhood near Britain's Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant and had family-members who worked there. My grandfather (who worked there) and my aunt (who didn't!) both died due to blood clots that where caused by a gene mutation that hadn't affect our family before we came into contact with Sellafield. The incidence of child lukeamia is significantly higher in the areas around the plant, though this has been repeatedly covered up. Britich Nuclear Fuels Ltd even paid for a specialist cancer unit in Newcastle to ensure that deaths would be registered there and not near Sellafield. They've even changed the name (from Windscale) in the hope that people will forget the problems with the plant.

Please don't look to Britain. Our nuclear policy is a shambling array of misinformation. The original government whitepapers (from the 50's) completely failed to acknowledge the decommissioning costs involved in nuclear power plants (which are stupendously big) and incorrectly stated that nuclear power was the best option (when in fact alternative power forms are much cheaper and less dangerous in the long term).

Please don't build this plant, uranium and plutonium are fundamentally bad for humans, please consider alternative power forms that don't kill you if you come into contact with even the smallest particle of them.(United Kingdom)

Stop the War! Make Love!
Spend your money saving childrens life, not in destroyning our future!(Portugal)

The production of more hazardous, radioactive materials will only beget pain, suffering, and further devastation. Please do not subject your own fellow citizens as well as citizens of the global community to such risky endeavors!(United States)

We have to think clearly before doing any thing. If not, we'll kill ourselves and our future generations!(Viet Nam)
